Justice.HARIHARAN NAIR. M.R.
Born In 1941 at Muttakkad in Trivandrum District.
After obtaining degree in Physics from the Mahatma Gandhi College Trivandrum, and degree in Law from the Govt. Law College, Trivandrum Hariharan Nair practiced as Advocate in Trivandrum courts during 1967 – 1975. He won the Malloor Govinda Pillai Gold Medal of the Kerala Univerisity for getting highest marks in Criminal Law in the Law Colleges of the State in 1967. He also holds a Masters' degree in Political Science from the Kerala University.
Hariharan Nair was selected as a Munsiff with first rank in the State, in 1975. He served the Judiciary of Kerala State in various capacities from Munsiff to District Judge from 1976 to 1999. He also served as the CBI Special Judge at Cochin from 1987 to 1990. He was the Principal District Judge at Thalassery, Kottayam and Ernakulam District Courts. He was appointed as the Judge of the Kerala High Court in March 1999 and continued in office till his retirement in May 2003. After retirement, he served Chairman of the Kerala State Prisons Review Committee of the Govt. of Kerala during 2004-2006, and Ombudsman for Local Self Govt. Institutions till 16-3-2011. He was the Commission of Inquiry into incident at PULLUMEDU, SABARIMALA leading to the death of 102 persons in January 2011. Presently he is the Chairman of the Kerala State Fishermen’s Debt Relief Commission.After sucessful completion of a ten year term as Chairman of the Institutional Ethics Commettees of the Sree Chithira Thirunal Institute of Medical Sciences, Trivandrum From 2004 to 2014; he is now Chairman of the University Ethics Committee of the Kerala University of Helth Sciences, Thrissur.His Voluntry Service includes work as Chairman of theInstitutonal Ethics Committee of the Giridhar Eye Institute,Cochin; and as Program Director (Legal) of the Pallium India,Trivandrum as well. He is also one of the founder trustees of the Kerala International Centre, Trivandrum of which Ambassador T.P. Sreenivasan is the founder Director General.
He published several articles on legal subjects in various Malayalam periodicals and Kerala Law Times. Memoir NEETI PARVAM written in Malayalam, published by Poorna Publications, Kozhikode was released by the Central Law Minister Mr. Salman Khurshid at the Kerala High Court Auditorium in June 2012.
